*PRINTMAKING SAMPLER with MAURA GALANTE
Learn traditional and experimental printmaking processes, concentrating in one area or exploring many. Etch like Rembrandt, Goya, and Kentridge; monotype like Degas, Masur, and Oliveira; woodcut like Dürer and Frankenthaler; lithograph like Kollwitz and Rauschenberg. Combine other media with printmaking.
Includes one 3-hour practice session per week during monitored practice hours.

It’s a print party! Print Day in May is an annual international celebration of printmaking taking place on the first Saturday in May. Join us in the print studio at Creative Arts Workshop (80 Audubon St, New Haven, CT) as we gather with thousands of participants around the globe to recognize this special art community. Enter to win a free printmaking class or workshop at CAW! (Details to follow)
Printmakers: CAW’s studio is equipped for relief, intaglio, screen print, and monotype processes, and offers four printmaking presses: a 25” x 48” Takach, a 30” x 48” Charles Brand etching press, a 36” x 60” Charles Brand etching press, and a 28” x 50” motorized Charles Brand press. Participants must have printmaking experience, be familiar with working in a community studio, and may spend the time on independent projects. There is no instruction.
CAW will provide a limited assortment of oil based etching inks and Akua soy-based inks, as well as acids, tools, and clean-up supplies. Attendees should provide their own printmaking paper, apron, roll of paper towels, plates, and any other inks and tools desired.
Observers are welcome! Our doors will be open- there is no charge to drop by and see what the printmaking department is all about. Try a screen print or make a monotype with one of our attending faculty, watch printmakers at work, and view the possibilities.
