Monotype/Monoprint with Maura Galante

Monotype is the most painterly and spontaneous printmaking process. We will experiment with a variety of textures, materials and techniques to create unique, multilayered prints and combine traditional printmaking with digital, photographic, drawn or painted imagery.  We can also use relief and intaglio processes to create monoprints. Come expand and explore your visual horizons!

Supplies: Returning students should bring ongoing projects and tools as needed. Paper will be available for sale by instructor. CAW supplies inks, solvents, oils, acid, hand cleaner, etc. 

Note: Fee includes one monitored 4-hour print session per week. Requires faculty approval and adequate knowledge to work independently in a print studio. No instruction.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP: Introduction to Monotype Printmaking

with Maura Galante          Level: All Levels

Explore the magical process of monotype printmaking using a wide variety of techniques and materials: reductive and additive inking, Chine-colle, stencils, and layering imagery. Individual style and experimental approaches to the medium are encouraged. The workshop will include both demonstrations and individualized instruction.

Supplies: Bring any printmaking supplies that you own. Rives BFK printmaking paper (22″ x 30″) will be available for purchase from the instructor for $4 per sheet    Saturday, 20th July 12:00- 4pm.  $60
