STATEMENT
Although I like to experiment with a variety of media, I consider myself first and foremost a printmaker. I am fascinated by the various tools, the smell of the inks, the machinery of the press. I work primarily with monotype (one of a kind prints) and mixed media including Asian papers, oil pastel, wax and collage. I continue to play with color, pattern and texture, and incorporate these elements into my explorations of the world around me.
I constantly return to the subject of nature as my theme. I imagine that plants, rocks, water, trees, and the earth itself, communicate through the electro magnetic fields all over the planet. This imagery results in my creating marks, circular shapes and patterns made by inking and printing various textures. These marks suggest to me a form of communication- I imagine if sounds moving through invisible airwaves were made visible, they might look something like this as they travel through space.
